Kill City Rebel
It was a short stint with the punk rock trio Kill City Rebel with frontman and drummer Egbert Joosten and guitarist Bob Walter. The band made the album IDGAF with Anne-Maarten on bass and there were a few but memorable very loud gigs. Untill Egbert broke up the band. It was a blast in more ways than one.
Judge Abraham & The Jury
Around 2002 Anne-Maarten was in search of a jazz band, but he was summoned by Judge Abraham for jury duty, in other words; Anne-Maarten had to fill the very large shoes of double bass player Tonny Ector who also composed a lot of the songs on the debut album ‘The Lost Recordings’ by Judge Abraham & The Jury. Memorable gigs were done, amongst others at the Crossing Border festival and the gig at the Effenaar where two bass players showed up and did the gig together opening for Galexico. The group started writing a new album and after recordings were finished, it was never clear what happened to the release as Judge Dave Adsma vanished into thin air… Check out the very low fi album that was released.
The Captain
As a young bass player Anne-Maarten saw The Captain playing at record store Plato in Apeldoorn. He was impressed by the weird songs by the band that were heavily influenced by Captain Beefheart. Later in life, Anne-Maarten was asked by Captain Henk Waninge to join the band with Edmond Valentijn on drums and Wim Rietveld on guitar. Anne-Maarten can be heared on the EP Flanders fields.
